My First Cyanotype Project

“What am i gonna do?! How did I misread the measurements like that?!

ooh, you’re in trouble!”

I applied for a small local grant to participate in a group exhibit that showcased POC who have been living in az. I was one of the few folks that were selected. When I submitted my application, I proposed to take an image and use the process of cyanotype to execute the idea that I had drawn up prior to being accepted… and all along I fail to notice a very important detail, the individual mural dimensions read 10x10 feet, and not inches! Imagine my surprise when I walked into the gallery to pick up my materials, only to find out that the rug-sized canvas that laid on the floor was for me. ha!

I managed to keep my emotions hidden while I stood there. On my way home, I drove in silence, scrolling through the catalog in my brain, looking for ways to execute this project. I finally got it home and unrolled the canvas in my tiny living room and as it laid there, curled up on the sides on my coffee table and books, I laughed maniacally while pulling at my hair! I buckled down and felt committed to complete this task in the 2 month window that was provided. I fell down multiple rabbit-holes after work and laid awake many nights, searching techniques and consulted with multiple artists and this was my process.
